MACOMB COUNTY

Sarah,

I arrived at noon today and although the counting started at 8:30am all of the Trump observers challenged all of the ballot boxes with no good reason. This held up counting until 12:30pm. Every time a new ballot box was brought to a table to be open the many Trump observers challenged every box and for the reason of the challenge the Trump men at my table said it was because “We shouldn’t be doing this in the first place”. So, much time was lost with that stall tactic. As I was there as a Hillary observer I was unable to voice any challenge, however, I had wonderful Green Party people willing to sit with me as there was such a large amount of Trump observers verses the other parties and although the rules were only two observers were allowed per table there were many times 4 or 5 Trump observers would hover over our table and not follow that rule. After they were finished with the count from one precinct at my table the numbers of each candidate including the “others – non-votes” did not match the total number of ballots in the box. It was short two votes and the only difference between the original election night numbers and our final count was that Hillary Clinton lost 2 votes. The gentleman from the Green party challenged this and the referee would not do anything about it. We got a Green party attorney to challenge it and she filled out a form. The Green party volunteers and attorneys were all so helpful and truly there for the integrity of our voting systems. The Trump supporters there were very rude and unkind and the experience was not what I had anticipated. I believe that not all but some of the referees were unfair and sided with the Trump challengers. It is very disheartening to hear the federal judge put a halt on all of our progress so far.
