2016 Presidential Candidate Jill Stein to Attend Weekend Events in Holyoke to Support Latina Candidate Darlene Elias for City Council at Large
September 24, 2015
HOLYOKE, MASSACHUSETTS – Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein and Holyoke City Council At Large candidate Darlene Elias are hosting a breakfast in Holyoke at Salsarengue Restaurant (392 High Street, Holyoke) from 9:30-11:30 am this Saturday Sept 27, 2015. Building strong local economies will be the topic of discussion at the breakfast, which is open to all.
Elias has campaigned as “a problem solver and community builder who will not shy away from the tough issues facing Holyoke, including Holyoke’s often neglected lower wards.” She proposes having the city provide more assistance to residents seeking to build and operate local community run businesses catering to ward residents. Stein is a longtime advocate for building thriving local communities by shifting state investments to locally owned and staffed companies. Her presidential campaign platform includes enacting a “Green New Deal” to put everyone back to work greening the economy.
After the Breakfast at Salsarengue, Elias and Stein will visit Kate’s Kitchen, part of Providence Ministries service to the poor in the south sections of Holyoke, and then they will attend the Nuestra Raices Harvest Festival (12-4pm) where the Pioneer Valley Local chapter of the Green-Rainbow Party will have a table to help voters register for the November 3 Election.
